standing and believing in reality
we shall rise

for so long their has been little
sleep we have been quiet waiting
for an answer ,a statement , the truth we have have
obeyed ridiculous laws now the time has come when we
shall rise.

We shall rise out of the seat of oppression and burn
it because it burned us we shall rise as the Hebrews
done shining bright declaring our freedom .

We shall rise out of the sandy deserts of iraq and

other parts of the middle east and welcome home our
prodigal sons and daughters and throw a feast .

we shall rise out of what they call they call the
great depression and climb over the country's
recession we shall rise and bawl our fist at
poverty.

We shall rise above the excuses that we
as a people make for ourselves and rise
against the discrimination that exist
too ashamed to show its true identity .

we shall rise against the sexual hypnosis of
entertainment we shall rise as kings and
queens of such prestigious entitlement.

we shall rise against those who step on our
dreams ,rise above the fear of being sucess
-ful rise above jail houses and shake the
dust of the penitentiary from our feet.

We shall rise tall as ocean waves we
shall rise tall as ocean waves rise
above the color of our skin or the
language we speak.

we shall rise against the violence in
and out of the schools we shall rise
and stand bold and proud of being a
father and mother to our innocent
children.

we shall rise tall as the trees that
sway in the wind rise above the
police brutality that tries to hide
underneath the rug of justice.

rise mothers and fathers take
your place aside your
children rise young
women don't settle for
romantic repetitive
words that amount a
pause on your
dreams and
aspirations.

rise young men
above the
definition that
has sent before
you crush the
chains that have
been
welded over
night to keep
you
captive from a life
that awaits you.
rise and settle
no more.
