Kerosene Sun
A unique poem about the relationship between humans and the sun. |
-Kerosene Sun- by Keaton Foster Kerosene sun Burning bright Colorless life Distortion brings It into present view Furious red it fools Its real color unknown An educated guess as best Made by humans With something to prove How could they ever know Distance denies us truth Omnipotent in its power Holding everything Together at the seams All time, all space Is bound by the causality Of its unbridled strength We can feel it’s embrace A side-effect of its ways It’s not there for us We are here because of it It feeds our lives And burdens our souls Promising us certainty Each new day that it breaks The back of the distant horizon Have you ever Wondered why Have you ever dared Have you ever cared It gives us what we need Through the power of light Furiously burning away All darkness replaced Without it we would die Frozen in place Shattered in every way The end of our case It is more God then most The ancients use to pray to it Offering everything For another day of something Those present must obey it Must stand in awe of it Slowly it floods the earth With toxic rays of excess The day it comes to an end We will have already been dead For eight minutes and twenty seconds So the next time you can Look up into the perilous blue Far beyond all wisdom and truth Out into the depths of space An unspecified amount of time away There you will see our certain doom… Kerosene Sun Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2012. |
