The challenge of starting middle school as a teen growing up - a rhyming poem.
Christmas and birthdays,
Those occasions so bright,
A fond memory that stays,
Being tucked in at night.

Games and bright flowers,
And outgrowing old shoes,
Watching television for hours,
From timely, close views.

But time marches on,
And the lessons begin,
Then, grade school is done,
And the pressure kicks in…

Popularity plummets,
And regrets feel so strange –
Those eventful, teen summits
Provide such a big change!

To own that identity
Is to balk at most moves;
The lines become blurry,
If the crowd disapproves.

So, having fun together,
Let’s survive this big change –
Until then, it’s rough weather,
Feeling bitter and strange.
