For What's To Come
A poem about finding your own path regardless of all that you know. |
-For What’s To Come- by Keaton Foster See Know Feel Hear Be aware Understand the truth Allow in to envelope Your sense of being Refuse the lies They serve you none Failing under the sun Has never been an option You have to do what you can What you are sure you must Have no regret And if you do Bury it deep within your chest Fight to be prepared For what’s to come Know the rules of the game Understand how to break them Be sure to play your part to Keep up all appearances But when no one is looking When all are overtly trusting Take what you are sure is yours Leave nothing else, not even scraps Your obligations to your species is nil Your story has always been about survival I know it well, sadly I can relate Hell on earth is more certain Then any heaven beyond the blue sky There is no god Except then one we decide We all have to make a choice Based upon the decisions made on our behalf Propagation of issues embraced Will create only more of the same Break the back of the mold of those Who gave you life and then told you Do not do what you wish Do only what we intend Follow the path laid As crooked as it seems It will take you where you need to go To you, as a poet turned heretic I say Step to the left or the right Care nothing of their endless shit Follow all that they insist no more Become your own pathfinder A directional barometer For what’s to come next Everything is not as dependent as it seems Upon the very next step And the weight of the ones took Be prepared to go your own way Your own defined direction… For What’s To Come Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2012. |
