Lights of late summer while house-sitting
                             Lights

         Light outside is dim
             (not dull      grey skies are
               hardly ever dull)
There's a blanket of green on the hills
Across the valley          a slash of red
                             cuts through...
         A road being built
(it fits  unlike many new roads)

         Rain dampened everything
               leaving smells of wet pavement
               wet weeds
All of them reflecting their own
                   special light.

         First car lights of afternoon
               have gone by.

         lights-

         All kinds....  all meanings.
         Some are easily seen.
               Others take the wisdom
               of years to understand
and even then      there's a twinkle
         defying definition.
                   Just asking for acceptance.
