Marie Helps the Sun Set
by Sara
Rated: E | Short Story | Family | #1880873
My second story; it revolves around Marie.
It was a lovely evening, and the sun was setting. Marie watched the sun on the ground. Mr. Sun was very tired, and he wanted to get some sleep. With a yawn, Mr. Sun said, "It's been a long day for me, and it's time for me to go to bed." He looked over to Marie on the grass and said to her, "Pardon me, Marie, but can you sing me a lullaby to help me sleep?"
"Of course I can," said Marie with a smile on her face, "I'm such a good singer, and I can help you go to sleep." She took a deep breath and sang to the sleepy sun: "Hush now, quiet now, it's time to rest your sleepy head. Hush now, quiet now, it's time to go to bed..."
The cat's adorable singing voice helped the sun close his eyes and go to sleep. He disappeared into the horizon, while the sky turned from orange to dark blue. Mr. Moon rose over the horizon, ready to begin the night. Mr. Moon had heard Marie's lullaby to the sun and was touched by her voice. Because the sun had fallen asleep when Marie finished singing, he couldn't thank her. But Mr. Moon thanked Marie for singing the lullaby for Mr. Sun.
And from that evening on, Marie sang that very same song to Mr. Sun to help him sleep before the beginning of each night. The song never failed to help the sun go to sleep, not even once.
