An Untimely Death-37 lines

death, love, flowers, husbands, abuse, guns, deceived,
An Untimely Death

Haunted by the memory of someone you once loved
The truth of how you were treated seeps through
Your mentally deranged mind
The smell of his cologne is still imbedded in your nostrils
And when you see him and his new love
Arms around each other you start
To really loathe what goes through your psyche.
They’re laughing together with their eyes
And your only thought is gluing them shut.
I could get away with this easily
I could plead temporary insanity but my thought was to get away with murder.
One sunny hot afternoon, the steam rising up from the rain.
I decided to declare my amends to him by using my hot, sexy ways to leer my ex into my cave of iniquity.
The femininity he couldn’t resist the the soft curve of my back barley seen from my raven, black curls.
My bikini just tied with strings I said in my sweltering voice “Come let’s go in my house and enjoy some sweet iced tea.”
He didn’t see the other button I pressed which was that of a record button
On the video camera.
Oh, he thought I forgot his vices.
He didn’t know I could recall in my mind
Every touch, every trick I remember since we fell in love.
We took each other’s youth and our bodies were road maps from the past.
I was in control. A month later he was married to his little friend and I knew just the little
Present for the newlyweds. There would be no killing I would have to do.
I just sent a C.D. through the mail along with the happiest bunch of flowers on earth,
Sunflowers with a note that said, “Here’s a present from me to you and your new wife.”
She put the CD in and held the bunch of Sunflowers.
As she watched tears felt down as the salt hit her full lips.
Rushing to the bathroom she pulled out the drawer softly so he could not hear
With her pistol in hand she straighten her arm and shot him in the head.
The killer in prison and with him dead my mind was set free from the spot where he once rested in my brain.

I set out in the sun swinging on my boyfriend’s fresh, smelling, cedar swing.
Looking into his deep brown eyes he said, "Let's dance."
In the backround he listen to Leon Russell, the familiar Lyrics……..
“Well, you're showing me different sign,
Even after the flame is dyin',
You'll get used to me baby,
You just wait and see oh lady,
Cause I've been in love before, And I love you a whole lot more.”
