A poem about fighting ahead and moving on to make my own way to the place I wish to be.

No promises no demands
I am just a man
Doing what he can
Living the best parts
Trying hard everyday
In every possible way
Struggling to move beyond
What was done
In order to have a chance
At something deemed impossible
Fighting the hand of fate
Determining my own
One second at a time
Never again will I be a victim
Leading with my heart
Using my words as a way
To get others to see
As a way to get them to understand
No promises no demands
Just a man ready to live
For the first time in his life
Where I will go from here is unclear
But what is for certain is that I
Won’t remain where I have been
For the first time since I was a kid
I have an undeniable chance
God above has blessed me
But along the way
I was sure that he hated me
So many bad things came my way
When I was quite young
When I was far too innocent to deserve
What I was sure was his rage
Foolish in my youth I refused
To understand that what was done
Was all part of a greater lesson
That I had to undertake
To get to where I am now
And more importantly
Where I am going from here
No promises no demands
Just a man ready to live
That’s who I am…
