We are fighting a war today,
and every day.

The entire planet is involved.

Yet, no guns are fired,
no bombs dropped,
no missiles launched.

Not nation against nation,
party against party,
or
gang against gang.

Many think it is majority
versus minority.
straight versus gay,
clean versus addict,
rich versus poor.

Some even claim that it is
God against sinner.

They are wrong.
We are all dying,
civilians and soldiers alike.

Silently death comes,
for we do not wake to sounds
of war machines
or screams of the wounded.
Nor do we die of
enemy fire, prison camp torture,
or wartime famine.

It is more cruel.

No shelter can save us.
No bargains struck
or treaties made
will end the carnage.

We cannot depend on the
government
or armed forces
to defeat our enemy.

Our weapons are prayer,
research, knowledge,
and compassion.

We are fighting a war today,
and every day.
Against three letters-
H.I.V.

Come join the fight.
