You were so close I could feel
your breath on my neck. My skin was scented with your cologne. Yet, somehow, you couldn't have been farther away. Except, for a moment, our hearts beat in time, our cheeks touched, and the folds of our arms in the hold of a dance, for a split second became an embrace. We seemed as one. Only your soul knows why the moment did not last, for mine wished it to stay. When that brief bond broke a piece of me stayed with you. And now I am empty, alone, and cold.
