Stranger
a poem about love.. written in junior high (but it is actually pretty good)

Who is this stranger
that has approached you?

He is unpredictable.
Sometimes silently stealing
into a quiet existence,
barely noticed.
Or, sometimes,
bold and glorious,
not to be ignored.

What is the masked specter's appearance
when his disguise is shed?

Often he is a beautiful youth
with dewy skin and glowing eyes.
However to some, he is hideous,
his monsterous head raised up
to engulf his prey.

Who is this stranger
that is in your presence?

He is the savior of some
and the devil to the rest.
He walks hand in hand
with the fair maidens of
Fate and Destiny.

Who is this stranger
that has approached you?

Many a name has he.
Ask a king, he may say loyalty.
Ask a warrior, he may say courage.
Folly, Happiness, Poison,
not unfamiliar to his ears.

This stranger
that has approached you, my child,
you do know him.
He is no stranger,
he is love.
