One day I dreamed up A kindred soul Mad and passionate, We’d be fatefully whole Dark, tousled hair Those solemn eyes Lean by design Almost never cries A poet’s heart And a realist’s words The driest humor You’ve ever heard Hasn’t been in love But once so thought Casual affairs Don’t mean a lot I curse you For being real Our knot now undone That wish I appeal
