A writer and his muse

With eyes like black roses
She smiles at me over her shoulder
We've been here before
Time and time again
My muse and I

Even the stars envy us
As she dances along the sand
Her red skirt twirling and swirling
In the salt and sea breeze
With every whispered choice
To never answer me honestly

We've been here before
In the place on the sea
Where even the stars envy us
With eyes like black roses
And her raven hair loose around her shoulders

Even the stars envy us
My fingers tap along the keys
Black inked word filling pale white pages
Pages that never answer honestly
Though we've been here before

We've been here before
Over so many years
Lost, so lost without her near
I can still see her dancing in my periphery
With eyes like black roses
Her voice echoing along the beach

Cruel fate which will never answer me honestly
Why she is gone from my life
And yet still haunts it with her presence
Dancing along the beach
With eyes like black roses
