THE WIND AND THE WAVES

In an era that has faded beyond memory
We met under the stars.
Our destiny was sealed that night,
As we walked the cliffs that bordered the sea
How high above the world we seemed!

I looked into her eyes and found
A beauty that rivaled the Heavens.
So struck was I that I could not speak.
But then, I suppose, words were meaningless
In the face of our love.
We seemed timeless, an epic
That would span the ages.

         The shore soon saw Dawn,
But that was unimportant.
The tide came in to us,
But for that we cared not.
What truly mattered was that
On that night we learned
To hear the music hidden
In the wind and the waves.
