Crush Crush
A friend of mine commented that she is "always crushing" - by which I take her to mean that she develops crushes easily. Thinking about the many crushes I have myself, I believe that it's natural. Crushes are attractions. When we look at someone and are attracted, we start to build an idea of that person in our minds. Okay, beautiful. Okay, sexy. Cool, nice voice. But what about those things we don't know about the person? Why, we fill those blanks in with our imagination. No wonder our crushes seem so attractive - we don't know all the bad parts yet - we have substituted fantasy for the facts we don't have. So, you're single and you start to date your crush. What happens? The shine starts to wear off. All the qualities we credited are replaced by directly-experienced knowledge. If too many guesses are wrong, we can fall out of love (or at least out of crush). Our crushes are crushed. What if you're not single and can't date your crushes? Hey cool, not much chance to ruin the veneer of all the eyefeasts. Lots of people you can be in love with, innocently and as long you don't investigate too closely. Being in love is a grand feeling, as hopefully we all know. Crushes are a little version of being in love. Cherish your crushes. Crush.them.with.care.
