Many nights I have spent reading
Pondering what happened in my books The other kids don't understand my obsession They hate books and wait to do the reading assignment But this is how I am comforted when I need it And writing to release stress When the amount becomes too great Even in my days when I was younger I loved to read because it satisfied my hunger And now I read so much I can't remember the names of all the books Which is something I don't know anyone else my age that can say They know exactly which books they've read Because they only do required reading While I find my safety in another world If only they could feel what I feel when I read Then they wouldn't wait to do their reading assignment Until the night before the test They'd finish the book the day they got it The way I often do.
