The Black Bear
true wilderness experience

The Black Bear

The fallen snow covers the river bank below
As we quietly wait for them to show.

The wild, savage bears who live so near
Can instill in humans a terrific fear.

They have roamed from dens called home
Boldy, roughly sparring with little honeycombs.

Massive hulks, glistening black hair
More like sponge and eyes ever so fair.

With the running speed of an antelope
Will they stop for a second? oOh we hope!

They have crossed the river to our side
Continue running without breaking stride

So fleeting our glimpse, we nod in surprise
Memories shall be there at each sunrise.
