Slow Dance
Circles held together in graceful repose Against a misty morning sky Feathers reach to hold the wind Of uncomplicated raven’s cry Syncopated into lover’s breath Expelled in blissful sigh from heaven’s lonely depth Nature’s fire compels the temptress Swirling in a never faltering abyss. Captured, calling, scratching, falling, Entranced by folly’s never ending kiss. Spirals down into darkness, into nothing’s empty trance, Undone only by one captivating, tantalizing.. slow dance. Detained by only injury and wound The scars so cleverly concealed, A champagne eruption, emotions explode Tingling of sorrow and distance, though little revealed. Bubbling open the darkest, deepest flight of regret Over an ocean of timeless lust for pleasures trapped inside fate’s unforgiving net. Take me in, gentle swaying, slow embrace! Persuade me float from side to side, Drifting upward on peaceful current Solemnly slipping from the edge of mortality, as eternity’s bride Singing true the only song, caroling clear and low, ‘Why?’ Calling out the raven’s cry, the only song I know.
