Gently hold my hand,
as I may stumble taking that first step. I'm not really ready to walk alone, as yet. Gently hold my hand, and whisper softly. Chase away the fears, sing to me lull-a-byes and wipe away the tears. Gently hold my hand, as I sniff and cry from love's heartbreak, then tell me that true love is always worth the wait. Gently hold my hand, feel my boundless joy at holding a new life near my breast, I promise to help you face the strife. Gently hold my hand, during those many ups and countless downs. Children seem to grow by giant leaps and bounds. Gently hold my hand, as my babies go to be on their own. Please hear my heartfelt wish, don't let them be alone. Gently hold my hand, as I frailly lay struggling for breath. sit down here beside me and guide me through my death.
