Snow Angels
The most wonderful to make when in a winter love.

Tonight the Christmas song, “Jingle Bells” comes alive as we travel over the snow covered hills. The open sleigh, the mist colored breath, and the sleigh bells takes me away to happier childhood moments and also cascades me into the warm loving arms of the woman I love. We weren’t children when we met but the love we share is as pure as the new fallen snow; snow untouched by the sun’s melting rays, untouched by a footprint, or even a perfectly formed snow angel.

The snow angel, the most beautiful of the winter creations, as unique as each snowflake, but even more special. It takes a special moment in time to create the perfect impression upon the snow. One can not create its beauty with a heavy heart or with an unkind thought in one’s mind. It is more than laying on your back and spreading out your arms and legs, the perfect snow angel is a miracle onto itself.

Tonight, with my love in my outstretched arms, I feel I can make the perfect angel. Her love has me floating on the wintry air; the brisk, clear, dense wintry air. The crystalline snow flakes are floating to the ground. They are sparkling in my love’s eyes like little frozen diamonds. The snow flakes are more like flakes of ice, they crackle under the rungs of the one-horse open sleigh. That and jingle bells from the horses harness are the only sounds heard on this peaceful night. The perfect conditions to create the snow masterpiece.

I motion for the driver to stop the sleigh. I dismount the carriage and walk to a nearby hill that over-looks the wintry trail that we have been following. I turn around and I look back to the carriage, hoping to see the beauty of the woman who loves me. I’m greeted by her smiling face only inches from mine, she must feel the same as I do about the love in the air. I fall back, gracefully into the hill. I extend my arms from my sides to a place just slightly over my head, I move my legs to the sides; I’ve made the perfect angel. Then to my surprise my darlin’ does the same. Her wings start where mine ends. In this snowy picture we are holding hands...in life we are holding hearts forever.

I love you...my Snow Angel, may she always know who she is.
