~Ocean Eyes~
Every shade of blue and green,
Storms rage and calm within them,
Reflect all colors of the sea
Diamond glint love flashed amid them.
~ * ~
Wee speck on the horizon
From distant port o’ call,
A pirate ship, masts a full,
Skull crossbones heir to haul.
A beleaguered pirate captain,
A hardy weathered mate,
Foiled by none but decades
Aboard life's sea of fate.
Lifetime’s holiday of taking
Ladies, jewels and gold.
Fancy ever giving love
His heart be blackened cold.
Yet the Cap’n held one lass,
Long golden tresses curled,
Who swept him off his pirate feet,
Image tracked him ‘round the world.
Of family, he remembered none,
Only pirate crew from start
But with age there came a yearning
Strange pang grew within his heart.
He could not mislay the golden girl,
Though sail to many land,
She followed and coerced him
Through storm or white beach sand.
A plead he heard within his heart,
Be wed, forget the past.
Find home and tame the beast, ye mate,
Happiness to ground at last.
Set sail for home, the pirate king,
His heart aglow for one
With eyes the color of the sea,
Awash with light of sun.
To live out those remaining years
Within those ocean eyes,
To weather out the storms and squalls,
Ride swells, sail rising tides.
When finally wayward skiff found home
And lowered crossbone wilt,
The brigand yielded blade and hook,
So vanquished foul and guilt.
Bouquet of flowers flanked his side
A ring of gold, paid true,
To find his bride a bidding
The one with eyes so blue.
His lover he went seeking
Over hill with hope and prayer.
Found her tired, withered, frail,
Gray snow graced blonde, thinning hair
Slowly she arose, as first
She met his daring gaze,
Sheathing scores of years gone by
Scars worn on wasted days
But yet her saddened weary bones
To him looked young and fair,
The woman with the ocean eyes
And flaxen twisted hair.
And live they did, those golden years,
On land with sea in view.
Hand in hand in love they stood,
Eyes reflecting ocean hue.
