The Mousetrap
Scurrying along the skirting board the little mouse peanuts does hoard His eyes do gleam his whiskers twitch he pauses briefly to scratch an itch He scampers quickly to and fro wondering which way to go To avoid the searching human eyes to snare this creature they must try More often than not their attempts do fail to catch this vermin in a plastic jail But maybe this time things will alter and the mouses devious mind will falter Peanuts are laid out in a line now all to do is wait some time The mouse is here there is a rustle along the floorboards he does bustle Waiting, there's the telltale SNAP! the captor ventures to check his trap But what is this? there's nothing there no bundle of fur caught in the snare And what is worse the nut has gone! Oh well, back to square one! ~PRD~
