A Cup of Dark Blues and a Sweet Song is an African-American relationship novel that follows the lives of seven people who love and hurt, yet rise to see the sun shine again! Meet Saleria Hicks, a rising spoken word artist who loves hard and fast, but is a perfectionist who does not like to lose control. When she bumps into Jerome Davis, a former student, at an audition for Def Poetry Jam, she is amazed and titillated by his sweet presence. Saleria’s best friend De’Nae Jones, is a kick-ass widower who loves her single life but aches for much more. When she meets Emmett Lawrence, a tall and handsome construction worker, all thoughts of being “single” fly out of her mind. Larisa Williams is a struggling single mother of two whom wants to be a good mother but when her ex-boyfriend Maurice “Reesy” Tompson comes back into her life after getting clean, she begins to reevaluate her life. The question is will she give him a new chance? Terry Stevens is an entrepreneur who is on the fast track to success with her travel agency, but can she hide the secret that is threatening to tear her soul apart? Secrets are revealed, insecurities are explored, and fantasies are realized in A Cup of Dark Blues and a Sweet Song.
