Abandoned
A poem about feeling isolated

Alone, isolated, without help or comfort.
I was abandoned.
Others were present.
They did not know I was alone.
They were not to blame.
My isolation was in an inward room.

Others seeking comfort, making demands,
filling their emptiness.
Others. Helpless, dependent, needy.
Others draining me.
I could not rescue them
from isolation in their inward room.

Jesus said, "Lean on me."
He said, "Take my yoke."
He said, "Learn of me."
He was alone in the garden.
He was alone on the cross.
He overcame desolation in an inward room.

Abandon all. Abandon all to Him.
Alone. I am alone. Alone with Him.
Others who draw from me
are drawn to Him.
His garden and His cross save us
from desolation in an inward room.
