Alcohol
A poem about the side effects of booze

Rain splashes down like a million angels crying
A man lies face up in a gutter but makes no effort to move
His face drains, all the color washed down the drain
But he does not budge
His bottle is empty yet he remains
A man in rags steals his hat but he lays still
Gray fingers stiffen yet he makes no effort to restore
Lost circulation
Bloodless legs freeze and still he remains
His rags disintegrate but he doesn’t care

Once he vowed never again to drink
Now these angel tears are the only ones shed for him
