A promise kept a gift given
A tale of woe from the eyes of a soldier and a brother.

The world fades away down a long dark tunel
and the pain i feel subsides
I hear the rustle of the leaves
and the whispers of the grass
as i recount my life and i promise i made.

I was two of two in my family.
always playing second fiddle to my brother
But slowly, sureley
i eclipsed him
It was a good childhood.

My teenage years were spent working hard
my mind was the sharpest weapon i owned
My brother grew rash and hurtful
he had no direction in life
unlike me and it caused a rift.

Trouble came to the world and the call went out
come forward and fight for the right
Drawn by the false honours of war
my brother steps forward
I can but follow.

A promise made to my family to keep him safe
united we stood against the hostile hordes
we battled not for belief
but for the next breath in our lives
Till today.

My brother is afe while i lie here
i know not what he will do with his life
No loger between us a rift
My life for his
My promise kept when my gift was given.
