Sometimes at night, when the sun has set,
I place my head down, or better yet, I lay it with care and ease my worn mind, Flowing out of all consciousness with time. Sometimes I sleep for hours breathing so light, And then I awake to find it still night. The moon and clouds call me to their place And I drift into worlds lost in the space. Sometimes I sleep when the wind rustles fast And the storm rages on like a thought in the past. Sometimes I sleep, then sometimes I don't. Sometimes I can, and sometimes I won't. Sometimes I sleep, alone and still cold, Never when I was young, but now that I'm old. At moments I sleep when it's very serene And the world around me exists as a dream. Sometimes at night, when the moon begins to rise, I lay down my head and close my green eyes. Sometimes I sleep, if the night allows this to me. Sometimes I sleep just to be free.
