I wrote this poem for my then girlfriend in 1989. She became my wife in 1991 and today is the mother of our three children. I can’t imagine a life without her and my children, and this poem may have started it all (she still carries this poem with her in her purse).

Evermore

I look at you now
There is innocence in our embrace

Worldly as you may be
There’s a child in your face

Your skin so soft
Your eyes gently pressed

Our bodies intertwined
My head at your breast

We sleep ‘till dawn
And then even more

I love you now
And I think, evermore
