A Piece of Purple
By Quizmo LaGrande I found a piece of purple Lying in the sand, A simple stone of purple From a far off, mystic land. It glimmered once to call me, A wink to say "I'm here!" Not bigger than my thumbnail But beckoned me come near. I gazed and wondered just how far This darling stone has traveled; From kingdoms' treasures long ago Fair maidens did it dazzle? Across how many seas and lands While polished glazed and handsome, A gem cherished cut fine and true Stolen, thieved and ransomed? And now upon the morning tide This amethyst did ride To enchant yet me, another One who's bound to see its pride. Of all the many rocks and stones I walk upon each day This lovely piece of purple Sought to brighten up my way!
