Kanchenjunga

Towering above green conifers,waterfalls
Mighty Himalayan rivers and deep gorge
Above the sound of the Sherpa’s flute
behind the everchanging veil of clouds
You hide your ancient forbidden icy slopes
As I sit in meditation at your feet
Amidst lush green gardens of tea
Sounds of violent white waters rage on
My mind craves for a glimpse of you
Through crevasse,valleys,rockface,forests
Show me, show me the way

You lift the veil of clouds and reveal
Yourself to the gentle rays of dawnlight
that color your five mighty peaks
Shadows dance on the slopes below
Sweeping glaciers of ice sun and snow
Deep purple turns to gold and white
You play with colors of the morning light
Dazzle the world and gladden my sight
Earth and heaven meet in your rising might
As the planet’s crust does violently collide
Show me, show me the way

Wild orchids clutch sheer walls of rock
Dewdrops drip on dancing Rhododendrons
Gladioli flower the rainforest paths
Prayer flags flutter in the mountain breeze
Tuned with lilting notes of the Sherpa’s flute
Mixed with the fragrance of burning embers
You gaze at our world, a benign smile
Moon and stars glisten on your crest
My tired feet I do gently rest
I sit amidst rolling green gardens of tea
Gazing, wondering on the path to trek
In a flash I know, as I merge with your flow
The choice that I have to make
