Summer Lover

I sit here and I often wonder as each
day swiftly passes by, why you ever went away.

You used to be so happy by my side,
but then, my temper, with the days grew short
as winter slowly settled in.

My mind went shut and left you out
as I studied eagerly each night.

Then one rainy afternoon, when I had nothing
to do, I came to call and you were gone.

Now I sit staring out my dormitory window
and every now and then I see you and her pass by
and I wonder why.
