Friend or Foe? (Revised)
Out of passion grows all creation, yet passion burns that which it creates.

Passion, pure and burning hot,
Blazing in my heart and soul.
Walls around it there to hold,
To keep from losing control.

Just once I'd like to just let go,
Let emotion be my guide.
But my ever-present fear,
Makes me my passion hide.

So here I sit, letting loose,
That which I cannot show.
Passion, the core of all my dreams
And my mortal foe.

Love, hate, pain, and terror,
Dancing in my heart.
Which of these will hold me now?
When will the happiness start?

Within my mind is seared the torture,
Of trying not to conform.
Torrents of hurt, striking deep.
What can end this storm?

Passion can, my passion for life.
Keeps me ever wandering,
No longer do I feel my thoughts
I am ever squandering.

Passion, my ever faithful friend,
My ever-haunting horror,
Keeps me from losing my grip on life,
Yet ever wanting more.

Is there more for me out there
Than to be passion's favorite pet?
The answer to that I wish I knew,
But have not found it yet.
