Crystal Light
By Quizmo LaGrande The light has dimmed and darkened To none, to absent, gone. The night, so late upon us, Frigid reign before the dawn. Crystal caverns once aglow, Shining bright, reflecting hope; Blinding most the true of heart, Now heart yields but lover’s ghost Once ablaze in magic hollows, Now a glimmer seldom seen, Only pit of shared remembrance, Hole of empty, fetid dreams. Velvet curtains hang before me, Heavy softness soothes their length, Tear and shred their gracious dignity, In shrouds, I walk in torrid strength. I did not jade nor thwart you, Time has passed and life has sung. My crystal light shines elsewhere A different bell for me has rung. * * *
