A Soul Surrendered By Quizmo LaGrande It seems a shame. A soul surrendered, Surrendered to its will. A curious battle fought, This Soul and Will. Will, foraging into an unknown To escape the pain, The sorrow of years. The angle so slight, Yet steady the descent. Now the precipice, A seemingly great void, Gapes up at the Will And beckons… Jump. Soul stands quietly to one side Begging peace, Pleading, a sturdy bridge, Seeking tranquil resolution Yet no truth will abide. Soul cries weary in the dark, “I shall no longer be unhappy And so alone; All alone licking Wounds that refuse to heal. “Wounds that fester Full with time. Sores that have all but corroded The heart that beats frail. ” Mere simple Soul. Will shouts, “Fight! Your peaceful ways Have no ballast here! You have solved nothing But allowed the cancer grow!” Dear Soul moans tired, “Patience, love and time Will mend all. Serenity will find its way, In quiet we must wait.” “Good has not come! Look at you, Daft, you silly fool! Why deny that life has been unkind, And yet you stand so far behind? “Yes, dear Soul, surrender! Surrender to the plight Come with me to battle. Tranquility…, The guiding light.” So, perhaps a shame Then it is not, And together Soul and Will, Stand an army, Solid brave. Soul’s surrender, Framed in courage, A defiance now to none, Allies Will, arm in arm, Determiners of one. ~~~***~~~
