The Monster within...

From deep inside it grows,
bearing fangs and scales,
erupting suddenly...
from its hiding place.

With green skin &
pale red eyes,
gaping maw and bad breath...

The monster sits and scorns,
never trusting nor believing.
Always knowing the other is near.

She stands, her eyes closed
& breathing hard...
Remaining focused
and trying not to be alarmed.

The monster nears,
growling erupts
fire from its belly
singes and burns

She runs & she hides,
letting the monster go
was something unable to concieve

Yet it had escaped...
Pushing and snarling
clawing and digging its way out.

Leaving a gaping hole
where her heart had once been.
Ragged and tattered,
dreams and hopes lay shattered.

The monster mocks and sneers
as it lays in wait...
for its victim is near.
