did she?
I hope that she did all those things for you.

Did she?
Was she the answer you were looking for;
did she fill your world with bursting cavalcades of everlasting passion?
Stand by your side through the thick and the thin,

Did she?
Was she the light when dark came upon you;
did she bring you flowers when none would grow and the garden was barren?
Hold you up when faltering winds blew strong,

Did she?
Was she there when all others had walked away;
did she pronounce her allegiance and undying
loyalty, for you, to all who could hear?
Touch you with quivering fingertips,

Did she?
Was she crying over you for countless days;
did she lose herself in your memory and dry up like once succulent fruit, now rotten and hard?
Hurt for you til pain became everything,

Did she?
Was she watching you inside her mindseye;
did she never forget that she promised her undying love for you and no other, for eternity?
Remember only the best of what you were,

Did she?

I did.
