What to do when the perfect woman comes along…


In advising me how to treat a woman, I was once told by an old love that a good partner should be likened to a gem.
Beautiful, priceless and rare.

She told me that care must be taken when possessing one
Since we (men) often can’t tell they’ve got one until they’ve lost it.

“Be jealous. Don’t share your gem with anyone”, she said. “But be jealous with a balance.”

She seemed to like placing emphasis on the word gem.

The advice went on for ages and, although it was useful, I was forced to ask her what the point was.

She replied: “Infidelity.”

I lowered my head looking at the ground in confusion:
“Infidelity?”

With her hand gently placed under my chin she raised my head back up, kissed me softly and said:

“When you have a gem you don’t go out looking for rocks.”
