I Return to Me
the fear... the panic... the experience of an anxiety attack... loosely captured in a poem

"I Return to Me"
(started 01/20/02. finished 04/16/02 - 18 years old)

With every step
The room spins faster
With every step
My legs grow weaker

With every step
There's another thought
With every step
There's more confusion

With every thought
I close my eyes
With every thought
I want to die

With every thought
There's another fear
With every thought
I'm more alone

With every fear
My heart pounds faster
With every fear
I try to hide

With every fear
There's another desire
With every fear
I want you closer

With every desire
I know I'm greedy
With every desire
I hurt inside

With every desire
There's another breath
With every desire
I'm more alive

With every breath
I near the end
With every breath
I start to see

With every breath
There is more calmness
With every breath
I return to me
