Metaphoric Berryian Poem
We Close Our Eyes

Finding time to rest, with a liquid dose,
just a calming tool, to ease the world’s cruel.
Washing out the agonies; chase away the ghosts,
a man lost to victories, a man of many fools,
searching for ambitions, eluding him the most.

Spilling on her face, from a skin filled jar,
shading what it seems, all her inner screams.
Rubbing out a line; painting over scars.
Putting on a mask, that covers all her dreams.
Love so very near, and yet so very far.

Hiding be in castles, of stones never felt.
The mortar’s unseen force, repelling this divorce.
Cast away the pain, of reminding welts.
Now the child’s learning, the meaning of remorse,
a teacher made of anger; from a father's belt.

All the visions' see, a worthy of admire,
for doorways have no glass, to see the upper class,
lose the gallant image, and efforts to aspire.
A family chained together, hoping to surpass -
a portrait of deception, reflecting hell’s attire.

Indifference be a vice, for us for use in grace,
in minds and hearts asleep, not knowing time to weep.
Alive with our day-to-day - the focus on the pace.
and ourselves is all we see, to ourselves we keep,
and simply turn and close our eyes, and apathy embrace.
