Painting

I walked today with God,
and He painted for me,
a sunset, deep in red and gold,
and as I watched I caught my breath.

I never found colors so deep,
or rich, or sweet to the eye,
and I wondered how this God
had found the pallette that he used.

I've walked with God, now
all my life,through cornfields, meadows
rivers, deserts, mountains green,
and suffering, and sweetness, too.

He painted my life,
in reds, and gold, and fuschia,
and each day adds a new touch,
perfecting the creation He began.

He painted in pain, and joy,
deep longing, and desire for Him,
colors of the wind that no one sees.
Painted on my soul for eternity.

I dare not doubt this God of love,
His strokes are sure, defined and planned,
and done in love most beautifully,
to make my life his tapestry.
