OLD FRIENDS Thank God for old friends Who are still there for you When the rest of the world Looks away and you're blue. When the world's got you down There's no need to cry alone There's a shoulder to cry on If you just pick up the phone. You may not have seen them For quite a long time But they remember you well And things will be fine. They don't have to ask How you're feeling today. They can tell by your eyes; They know what to say. Old friends you can lean on When the going is rough. No need to hold in feelings Or try to act tough. You can let your hair down; Tell them what's wrong, Or just stay quiet But know you belong. They won't turn their back On you or your woes. They'll stick around When happiness goes. So thank God for old friends Who are tried and true, For whatever it takes They'll be honest with you. No need to put on a smile Or act like you're smart; Old friends know you well And they stay in your heart. Countrymom
