As Time Passes Me By
For anyone who has lost someone dear and wondered why

I sat and wondered
as time passed me by
why God had to take you so soon.
I was not ready for you to leave
even though you went to a superior place.
It is written God
has a purpose for everything.
Was it to make me stronger?
Was it to make me aware of how lucky I am?
Was it because you suffered enough?
Was it simply your time?
I can ask questions repeatedly but,
I am not doubting the Lord.
As time passes me by
I have grown in faith to realize
it is not for me to know the answers
it is simply for me to accept
what you have in store for us all.
As time passes me by now,
I thank God for
the time I have shared with you.
I have the fondest memories,
and with each day
I see pieces of you
living through me.

Author's Note: This poem is based on the different questions and thoughts I had after my mother passed away.
