My best friend is Filipino-American, grew up in the south, and is currently living in Massachusetts. He speaks English, and Tagalog fluently, Spanish and Portuguese not so fluently. While walking with another friend, on their way to the ballet they were approached by a grimy looking, smelly street person.

He asked, "hey, can you spare some change?"

In an effort to avoid the situation, my friend answered with a heavily affected accent, "me no speaka de English."

To which the street person answered, "yo habla Espanol. Dar me dinero" (I speak Spanish. Can you give me some money?"

Shocked, my friend and his companion both gave the poor man some money. While walking away my friend said to his companion, "only in Cambridge would you find a bilingual bum!"
