Upon this Night
A sad love song/poem written for my novel.

Timeless in the dawning glow,
The stardust falls, the moonlight calls.
Her pale body softly flows,
Like an echoed light, like burning night.
Their eyes meet with sweet stare,
His glow green, hers blue with care.
Then they found themselves standing there,
In the middle of the ballroom.

Their last night without fear,
Under the light, in the night.
One last night free from fear;
Forever so, they will never know.
In stellar beauty they will wander,
Under the watch of Ara's eyes.
Here they will be preserved quietly,
Forgetting all the empty cries.

Upon this night they stand,
Finding only what they can't keep.
Upon this night they wait,
Holding back the tears they'll weep.
And as the wind softly whispers,
And their heartbeats grow as one,
In eachother's arms they have gathered,
Waiting for redemption by the sun.

So let this be their chance,
A chance to love, a chance to live.
Let this be their moment,
And think not of what they'll give.
Even if the world falls away,
And they will never see the light,
Let this be their one day,
Let it be upon this night.

Upon this night they know,
That all once loved will be lost.
Upon this night they accept,
That wanting life will be the cost.
Hand in hand they remember,
Soul by soul against the shade.
In the end they know the call,
Their moment to softly fade.

Upon this night they stand,
Finding only what they can't keep.
Upon this night they wait,
Holding back the tears they'll weep.
And as the wind softly whispers,
And their heartbeats grow as one,
In eachother's arms they have gathered,
Waiting for solace in the sun.
