Goodbye, Father.

Groping my way through the blinding darkness,
Reaching for love and care.

An emptiness inside of me,
A pain far too great to feel.

Part of me missing,
One way to find it,
If only he was still alive.

We could have laughed together,
And shared lost memories.

We could have played forever,
And shared sad stories.

But then that day,
On September eleventh,
I bid him goodbye for the last time.

He went off to work,
And I, to school.

We never knew...
Never knew we would forever be parted,
Never knew we would feel so much pain.

The ache in my soul,
From just the thought of him.

Would the space ever be filled?
The space where he was supposed to be.

I miss him, greatly,
And perhaps someday I will find the light in the darkness,
And find my way to him.
