Shades Of Gray

Thought to be
         Monotone
         Lifeless
Natures warning
         Stormy skies
         Showers of rain
Smoke and ashes
         A new land forming
A memory of what once was
Natures protection
         Solemn mountains
         Standing tall
Slivers of slate
         We use for structure
         A roof, a pathway or a wall
Our sculptures form
         Hard concrete
         Soft pewter
Dark charcoal
         Creating works of art
         Warming our homes and food
Polished silver
         Decorating our bodies
         Our man made contraptions
One color of nature
         Goes with everything
         Can be found everywhere
Monotone?
         Lifeless?
         Think again.
