My Days With You

On the day that I met you
I could not see what would ensue
How great it'd be for you and me
'Til you'd met me, I wouldn't see

On the day that you met me
It was then that I could see
The awesome person who you are
The greatest in my life thus far

You and I, the greatest friends
Together rode life's sharpest bends
The greatest times by us were had
When you were there, life wasn't bad

We had something so much more
Than our hearts could hope to store
Much too good to be at loss
A friendship not a soul could cross

Something then had gone away
Something I'd thought would always stay
It left without a single sign
But we ignored the subtle decline

The night you said we'd grown apart
You don't know how you broke my heart
You've gone away, but I'm still here
Wishing that you'd still be near

And now I wait, so hard to bear
Though wrong it seems, I still care
I cannot take this as the end
Can what we had return again?
