Why? By Quizmo LaGrande Why, oh why, do I live so on high, Starry light glitter taint fills my eyes? Rose colored glass firm perched on this nose That shows only happiness, god only knows. Why, oh why, when I suddenly blink I’m standing knee deep in a vat of pink ink, The muckiest muck, pink pot of lies The glasses askew, I have to ask, why? Why must you worry when something goes wrong? Just fix it, I say, you’ll feel better and strong. Why do you wonder when love passes by? This is just practice for the next perfect sigh. Why, oh why, when the misty night comes Do I sing a love song in hopes he’ll succumb By the fire light strumming my poem of lament? For loving full faithful, but for love, ne'er repent. ~~~***~~~
