mother
yes, I'm an environmentalist - this is something of an editorial poem

Dragon's breath
the deadly cloud
erupting from the mouth
of a demon on four wheels.
Poison, disease, waste
injected into the saltwater veins
of our mother, earth.
Flatten her forests;
bury radioactive waste
just under her skin
like deadly pimples.
Our mother is dying -
dying as we rape her
dying as we drain her of her energy
dying as we poison her.
And when we realize
that we have caught
the disease that we gave her,
it will be too late
to save ourselves.
