On The Prowl
I was on the trail of a cat Tiptoeing in its feline tracks Bending where the trail led Through the woods to a river bed Curving up ahead once more By a landmark I've seen before Full circle it came to this, then Ere I finally stopped to listen To a lightly trodding step Behind me slightly, to the left I whipped around and down I fell Landing, thinking what the hell? In wonder on my back I lay Tackled by my erstwhile prey I resigned myself to second place As kitty triumphantly licked my face
